Timing Your Hits

Among the mountain of junk mail I received yesterday were two pieces concerning the primary race for Arizona’s 6th district.

I started my reading with the flyer from David Schweikert, a mud-soaked hit-piece against Ben Quayle, and found myself thinking*, “Well that is maliciously misleading”, “Well that’s a lie”, “Well that hit was discredited when used against Quayle in his last campaign”, etc…

So, I took a peek at the flyer from Ben Quayle, which reproduces a letter to the editor written by Fife Symington, originally published in the Arizona Republic. Among the highlighted bits, “Schweikert’s campaign has been perhaps the worst case of distortion and outright lies that I have ever seen in a Republican primary contest.” Yep, that about sums it up LOL

* No, I am not going to reproduce the slams here, you can find a Schweikert ad on your own. It would seem a good rule of thumb is, if it is in a Schweikert ad you should assume it is a distortion, a half-truth, or an outright lie. It is a shame that a legislator like David Schweikert who has served the state for so long has devolved into a mud-slinging power grabber.
