Immigration Bill

UPDATE: She signed it, unfortunately

Left this as a comment on Facebook, but figured I’d share it with you all, too.

I am definitely NOT an open borders gal (bet you could’ve guessed that) but I am not crazy about this bill. It strikes me as a “We have to do something” type of measure.

I think it is ridiculous that we have to make the explicit point that something illegal is also a crime. I believe we do need to do something. However, given the choice of nothing and something ill-conceived (see Obamacare), I’ll choose nothing.

They can go back to the drawing board and come up with a better solution

It seems that there is simply too much in this bill that doesn’t need to be there, shouldn’t be there. If we need to say that something that is already illegal is also a crime at the state level so law enforcement can actually enforce the law, that really is all the bill needs to say.

If you want to “take the handcuffs off the police”, do so. Just don’t throw in a bunch of extra crap to go with it.
