David Schweikert Frustrations

Posted on | August 22, 2012 | 7 Comments

In my congressional district, AZ’s CD 6, we have the joy of two sitting representatives running against each other. David Schweikert, the elder statesman, has been running (or having run on his behalf) embarrassing, low, whiny attacks.

In running such a despicable campaign, Schweikert makes it very difficult to even consider casting my vote his way.

Now, it seems that Schweikert or one of his operatives released to Politico a misleading story regarding a congressional delegation swimming in the Sea of Galilee, one of whom was skinny dipping. He is now, in fact, running an ad (which I can’t find online or I would link it) that claims the FBI was investigating Ben Quayle for misconduct.

The facts, however, paint an entirely different picture. The Sea of Galilee issue was included in a report on an FBI investigation – of another congressman, in another country.

If Schweikert would be so slimy as to leak and/or lie about something like this during the campaign, what other untruths is he trying to pass off as relevant “facts”

When you open yourself up that way, you have no one to blame but yourself when ads like this pop up: Dishonest Dave Schweikert: Stands for Nothing

You might be interested in this story, where it’s claimed Rep.Schweikert isn’t behind the Politico story (around the 12:30 mark): http://sonoranalliance.com/2012/08/22/politico-schweikert-not-behind-story-about-quayles-sea-of-galilee-frolic/ The interview still leaves an icky feeling.

On the other side, Rep. Ben Quayle made the mistake of connecting this story to his thedirty.com problem (drinking, debauchery, etc.).

Last night at POTR, former V.P. Dan Quayle went after Rep.Schweikert for running such a dirty campaign.

None of this “scandal” is relevant to the problems our country is facing.

Initially, I wished that one would have switched to another district. Now, I’m not sure either deserves a seat.

Is it too late to get Pamela Gorman back?

Yes, unfortunately, it is too late.

I didn’t even realize there was a local angle to the Galilee “scandal” until former V.P. Quayle mentioned it last night. Such a trivial distraction.

Does that Jake Sherman work for Politico? He is being aggressively misleading about facts that had come out before 8/22/2012 2:34 pm – why would we believe anything they publish?

When I first heard of it, it was as a swipe at Quayle – and phrased to make it sound like he was drunk & naked.

Next I heard there was the “FBI investigation” angle.

I used to love politics – but I don’t remember it being this petty & nasty, even in California.

Yes, he does work for Politico. He’s a sports guy turned political reporter (like another lefty). http://www.politico.com/reporters/JakeSherman.html “He lives in Washington and listens to an unhealthy amount of Grateful Dead and Phish.”

Why should we believe any reporters now? http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/08/cnn-afflicts-the-skinny-dipper-comforts-jesus-christ/261419/

Clearly, this is more important than Iran’s nuclear program, the pending collapse of the E.U. and Euro, or V.P. Biden claims to know three Presidents “intimately”. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Resnik points out where anti-Schweikert money is from: https://twitter.com/brahmresnik/status/238839151225602048 A lot of wealthy people in VA and NJ are concerned about this race.
