At the Rock Bottom

The Rock Bottom Brewery, that is.

This past weekend was the monthly get-together of the Conservative Arizona Bloggers group. We had a nice turnout with several of our regulars: Capitalist Pig & Mrs VRWC, Exurban Kevin, Rachel Alexander, Kevin, & relative ABC newbies from Moonbattery. Also on hand were first-timers Danno and Jeremy Vaught.

Somehow Jeremy, who handles social media for John McCain, ended up sitting next to Rachel, who handles social media for JD Hayworth. Just to prove how open-minded and accepting we are, I can assure you there was no blood drawn. 🙂

Our special guests for the day were Ruth McClung and her campaign manager, Gini Crawford.

We all know that Raul Grijalva is wrong for Arizona, he even made the case himself when he suggested a boycott of our state before the passage of SB1070. Ruth made a strong case for why she is the right choice to replace him. Her strong scientific background certainly would go a long way in the battle against all the junk “science” that is used to justify increases in spending & regulation. Her understanding of freedom, liberty and personal responsibility would be a breath of fresh air in the nanny state of D.C.

These monthly lunches have been so refreshing, as we have been able to meet, in a casual setting, candidates who are proud of their roots, proud of their country – and who know that Americans are strong enough & smart enough to take care of themselves. What does that say about the sad state of politics that so many of our elected officials can’t be described that way?

Special thanks to my friends from Great Satan, Inc & Exurban League for their extra help. You took a great deal of weight off an unbearably heavy situation.

Thanks also to whoever bought my lunch. I don’t know who you are or I would thank you directly. It was a sweet surprise. (If you accidentally paid for two pretzels & a Pepsi, but didn’t mean to, let me know. I’ll get you next time 🙂 )

Next month’s lunch is July 17th. The specific location is still to be determined, but it should be in central(ish) Phoenix. Stay tuned.

Had a great time. And here’s hoping Ruth can take on la machína de Grijalva and win.

It was definitely worth missing my USPSA match for, not to mention the drive up and back.
