Keeping ‘Em Busy

Both Australian Shepherds and Blue Heelers (Australian Cattle Dogs) are working dogs and need lots of stimulation. They are both intelligent breeds, so they need something to challenge them or focus on.

Combine the breeds and you definitely need something to occupy the minds of those energetic young pups. So far we are getting by with chew toys & fetch…though they haven’t quite mastered the bringing-it-back part. They like to run and chase so throwing things is a fairly efficient way to burn up some energy. For now.

I will most certainly need to up my game soon, though. Don’t want to come home and find they’ve been building a thermonuclear device. That would just be asking for a visit from Janet Napolitano – and NOBODY wants that.

Maybe I need to get a poodle, just so they have something to herd.
