Everything Old Is … Stored In My House

Posted on | November 1, 2009 | No Comments

Just came across a well used copy of “Introduction to Management in the Hospitality Industry” (but mine is the circa 1979 edition). I wonder how many of the principals remain unchanged*, for good or ill?

Page 215 touts the latest variety of of sports centers, the “superdomes” like those in Houston and New Orleans. 30 years is a long time – LOL

UPDATE: Just found my not-quite-as-well used edition of “Essentials of Advertising” (circa 1980) That one must be woefully anachronistic now

UPDATE: And it continues with “Fundamentals of Marketing” (circa 1978) Perhaps I should send this one to GOP headquarters so they can see how old the techniques they are using really are.

* Some things should never change, like understanding profit & loss, supply & demand. Somethings are always changing, like marketing & customer communication methods
