More Migration Issues
Posted on | November 3, 2009 | 3 Comments
When importing my MT blog to the WordPress database, entries were assigned different entry numbers.
The links coming in (or even the internal links to other posts) are completely broken and because the numbers are different, I have no good way to redirect, or change them.
Example
~ Old MT link: https://www.bkennelly.com/vox/archives/001977.html
~ New WordPress link: https://www.bkennelly.com/vox/archives/1081
Any ideas?

I’ve been using wp for 4 years & I love it! Haven’t done an mt migration, so I’m not sure of the fix for that. However, I would recommend using date & name (post title) permalinks. It gives you pretty urls & is seo friendly. Check the settings section of the dashboard.

I actually like the post number URLs, they are so neat & compact 🙂 Plus, I am not really worried too much about SEO – my little blog is just a little blog. I’ll take the hits if I get ’em, but not all that concerned (if too many people find me, I’ll have more worries with spam & trolls LOL)
I’m going to have to come up with some 404 page, I guess, before I take the old pages down – just wish I could do an auto redirect to the new location. Not sure why the post numbers got so off…
