But It Makes Me Happy

From Arca Max, someone with the guts to say it:

HEADMASTER SPEAKS AGAINST DIVORCE
The master of Dulwich College had strong words for divorced parents at the British Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference in England.

He said children of parents who divorced in pursuit of "self-gratification" were far more likely to require pastoral care -- counseling -- at private schools to improve their work, behavior and relations with others, the London Telegraph reports.

"It would be refreshing if society and our legal system concentrated more on the duties of parents to their children rather than their rights to self-gratification no matter what the cost to others," he said.

He says it might not be long before private schools can no longer cope with the pastoral needs of the growing number of children of divorced parents.

The guy is so gonna get fired, how dare he tell parents they have a duty to their children. Isn't it the schools job to raise them - or is it still in the hands of the 'village'?

Now, I don't believe there is never a legitimate cause for divorce - I know there are couples that should certainly split up. Sometimes it is better for the children, sometimes the truth comes out (as it should) before children are in the picture. But todays society is too much about instant gratification and self fulfillment. When your life decision is based on whether you'd be happier, instead of how your child will be affected, something is terribly, terribly wrong.

Remember me? I'm Oreo and I was adopted back in November with my paw in a splint. Someone in my last home had broken my leg and the nice people at the shelter took me to the vet to get it fixed.

I love my Mommy and my new home. Everyone comes to see me and I love to give kisses when they come. Everyone says that I'm the best thing for my Mommy and I know she is the best
