Poem

My step-sister is quite clever (I know, I know...I've told you that before). She just posted this poem on her blog

Plenty of Fish in the Sea

my fingers in the water,
combing, gently, stirring waves
reaching the bottom, scraping
looking for goldfish,
pulling up sharks
losing my fingertips
and eventually my self esteem.

I think most women can relate to that...

From this guy's perspective:

my fingers in the water,
playfully combing, stirring waves
with anticipation, excitement and eager pure intentions
looking for angelfish
feeling instead the suction of emptiness, vapid expectations
violently pulled by the vortex swirl of impossible magazine fairytale vs. real-life levels of happiness and success
losing my fingertips and just barely keeping my vessel on keel
knowing that, looking back on the enduring journey, my self esteem and course has always been true

I'm sure I've violated multiple poetic laws in the above's construction.

I still love my wife but it was a long road in finding her. Our adventure together continues.

The above was not formatted properly in posting but you get the idea with the "+" being each intended line break.

EDITOR: I fixed the formatting, I think. If I got it wrong, let me know and I will try to fix it :-)

Which stepsister?

I would say most women could realte to that. I know if your step-sisters poem were literal, I would have had stumps for hands by the time I met my hubby! ;-)

Great poem.

I think that is how she is feeling about now, which is so unbelievable to me. She is such an amazing young woman; Kind, funny, talented, smart, and accommplished.

The men in New York must just be idiots, because she is quite a catch.
