Overkill

Why my trainer and I may have to part ways ~

As I was working out on Friday, we were joking about food. I mentioned that my boyfriend was always giving me extra helpings of stuff ("have another piece of pizza, you're too skinny") He immediately came back with "You are not too skinny"

Now, I never actually thought I was, and I don't think anyone who saw me would think so, either - it's just something boys say to girls, "you're too skinny", "you're a feather", "you could stand to eat a cheeseburger".....

His response would really not be sooo bad if not for his comments later when he asked me if I had ever tried taking fat burners, "you know, the safe ones". (I'm not aware of any safe ones) I just said no and kept working (or trying to, did I mention how pathetic I am?) Later he brought it up again, "a lot of my clients are using the fat burners and they really help to get rid of the excess body fat"

I would say I am between 10 & 15 pounds off my goal weight, though I am way off my goal fitness level. I think most people would evaluate my physique and say "she should add some more cardio and cut out the junk food" or something along those lines.

This guy is a fitness trainer who should be able to develop a regimen to do just that, but his solution is to recommend supplements, and questionable ones at that. That seems a bit squirrelly to me.

What do you think?

Trainers are a very personal relationship - Up there with therapists, doctors and close friends. You trust their advise to questions with which you are genuinely struggling.

You might mentioned your issues to your trainer if you want to give him a second chance. Otherwise, it might be time to find someone that more closely fits your personality / goals.

As an aside, when Hiedi sees a thin girl jogging on the beach she coaches, "Run, Run, Run to the doughnut shop!"

When I saw you in October I thought you looked great. Now, this is coming from someone who doesn't work out or watch their diet, but I would think you would want to do a good workout and eat a sensible diet, rather than take supplements to burn fat.

What do you want to bet that he sells the supplements?

I agree with Karen, you look great!

I think the trainer works in an environment where people are obsessed with outer appearances, and some people will do anything to get to look a certain way without making lifestyle changes. Suggesting that you change your diet may not have occurred to your trainer.

If the squirrelly feelings don't go away, find someone else.

(I love Hiedi's cheer!)

Move on, that he brought it up multiple times, means he thinks they are great, which doesn't seem to mesh with your values...as a unbiased and completely clueless observer.

Okay, after your last post and this one, this guy is defintiely NOT a cheerleader for you as he should be. I wish I was your big brother so I could go shake this guy up a little. He seems to be very critical of your appearance and your ability, and if I wasn't a woman, AND your sister, I would think you are very sexy. (as echoed by the whiplash I have seen you give innocent men as you walk by!!) Fire his sorry butt, there are way too many trainers out there to be with one that isn't affirming and encouraging! (okay that is a sister talking) But supplements!!?!?!? I bet you are below the scales on the health charts, who pushes supps to someone like that?? errrgh
