I'd Watch it

The most recent large Powerball payout was $208.6 million to 100 factory workers in Wisconsin. Each worker will probably get around $1 million.

It would be interesting to see how such a large group handles the new wealth - which ones are still better off a year (or 2 or 5) from now, which ones make bad choices. I'd watch that documentary, I wonder if anyone would make it.

BTW: I thought of this because my sister received a strange package in the mail this morning - 7 powerball tickets with 5 quick picks on each. No return address, no note or explanation. The only clue is that the postmark is in Phoenix. Odd.

I am thrilled that 100 factory workers nailed the Lotto! (I'm thinking it should have been 100 waitresses from Washington State, but that's just me) ;-)

Like you, I would watch that documentary, mainly due to enjoying seeing how different people react to the same situation.

Although 1 million wouldn't stretch as far as it would have a decade ago. I know by the time I'd pay off our debt, there would be enough to put aside for retirement and a great vacation, and well that would be it.

In case you haven't been to my site recently, I just wanted to "thank-you." You gave me something to think about, and I appreciate it.

I think the fact that it is just $1 million would make it most interesting for me - if it was $10 million it would be too hard to screw up ;-). It seems like a LOT of money, but really, like you say, pay off some debt and a couple of good splurges and it could be gone.

There are people I know who could make that million dollars not only support themselves, but also turn into an even larger inheritance for their children (and grandchildren). There are those I know who would not only spend it all, but probably lose track and spend so much they would end up in debt up to their eyeballs.

I am always curious how similar things affect different people. This is such a perfect sampling, they are probably all from reasonably similar backgrounds and in somewhat similar financial situations.

I did get by your site and I have been wanting to post something here about it, but I want to discuss my point about the debating, not the actual subject of the debate, and I want to do it in a way that doesn't continue the drama of it. I think you did a nice job of accepting/understanding my point (whether you agree with me or not) and a very stand up job of apologizing/appealing to both of your friends. Just proves one of my points - you are indeed a classy lady.
