Riddle

I was presented with this riddle today, and I am stumped so far. It supposedly has an actual answer. Any takers?

I turn polar bares* white and I will maik* you cry.
I make guys have to p* and girls comb their hare*.
I make celebrities look stupid and normal people look like celebrities.
I turn pancaiks* brown and make your champain* bubble.
If you squeaze* me, I'll pop. If you look at me, you'll pop
I come up with nothing that fits all.....

UPDATE: I found this posted elsewhere with the final line being "Can you guess the riddle?" Does that change the puzzle at all? Give any of you a jump start to the answer?

[changed the spelling of things*, to make it BAD, because I am getting far too many visitors based on searches for this phrase. If the misspellings don't stop it, I guess I'll just delete the post...but I hate to do that.]

Well I'm stumped too. I know that a polar bears fur is actually translucent and it is the sunlight that makes it appear white. The sun can also make you cry too - but the rest of it doesn't fit for sunlight. *shrugs shoulders*

Or maybe it's a different answer for each line.

I thought about that, too, having each line be one of the elements maybe?

But the last line definitely throws that off.

My other thought is that it doesn't have an answer and someone just put it out there to see how many people he could suck in to it. Especially when I found out it was given to me by someone who got it off of mySpace. Y'all know how I feel about mySpace.

I forgot to mention, my first answer was "nothing" because I can't think of anything that would work in all the examples. Thought maybe it was one of those REALLY stupid ones.

Damfino...

I also came across that riddle. So far, I saw several people give the answer as "pressure".

my first thought was GOD, THEN I realized there was only one question in the entire riddle, which was can you guess the riddle, and I thought maybe the answer is "no". From what I read it said like 80 some percent of kindergarteners solved it, but that 90 some percent of harvard students could NOT solve it

I think the answer is AIR - if you look at it - you'll pop - like looking at the atmosphere from outer space. I don't know about the pee thing - maybe a breeze?? guys might know better.

I thought that perhaps I was given the incomplete version first, but wasn't sure if the last line "Can you guess the riddle?" was actually part of it, or something that was added later. It does make much more sense that way, or at least there is a reasonable answer.

Thanks, Amy.

The answer is, quite simply, 'no'.

Posted by: Alex at April 18, 2006 06:50 AM

It's Amy again.

If the answer were just 'no', it would be worded more like "Can you ANSWER this riddle?" or "Can you figure out this riddle?"

Rather, it asks us (at least, occording to www.wordjuxtapoz.com) "Can you GUESS the riddle?" not answer the thing. If the last line changes to can you ANSWER the riddle, the ANSWER should be NO.

But, as it say so far, it requires no real answer. The riddle itself (which is what we are trying to guess at) is "what am I?"

the answ3r is simply...IT

actually the riddle is complete with the last line "can you guess this riddle?"...and the answer is a simple and strong "no". that's why 84% of kindergarten students can answer it and 97% of harvard students can't. we try to put too much into it when the actual question is very easy.

Any one can GUESS the riddle. I can guess anything. My guess is "What is the stupidest riddle ever created and falesly attributed as a demonstration of how people don't follow direction?"

See, I guessed the riddle.
