@blankmail.com

You know what I hate about hotmail, yahoo, gmail...etc accounts? I can't tell what frikkin' ISP you use so I don't know if you have broadband or not.

I don't get it. Why do you need to know if your correspondents have broadband?

Mostly so I can know what I can reasonably send to them. And, to a certain extent, what their computer usage level might be. I expect a bit more knowledge of web surfing from someone with, for instance, a cox.net account as opposed to an aol.com account, because aol is so restrictive.

With Yahoo and Hotmail, I can sometimes glean the info from the headers if they send me an email, but I haven't been able to discern that from the gmail's I have received. And I wanna know :-)

Users of these accounts mostly use webmail to access their accounts, and have plenty of storage (1G on Yahoo, 2G on AIM.COM, 2G+ on Gmail), so you can send them anything without worrying about storage or bandwidth. (They will not use the bandwidth unless they choose to open any large attachments.)

It is hard to judge usage levels or bandwidth from email addresses. Experienced users tend not to use the addresses from their ISP, because they have limited storage and they are not portable. (Most of my correspondents use Yahoo! or Gmail.)
