Trackback Headaches

I have turned off the script that creates trackbacks because I am getting hammered. I am not sure why, but I am getting trackbacks to posts that I have closed trackbacks on. The spammers are not getting a link registering on any of my pages, just clogging up my database with their junk and my inbox with notifications about it. So I delete them. And delete them......

So, maybe they don't know that they aren't registering a link - it is being done by a script I imagine. My main question is, why is the script putting them in my database when they are turned off? Shouldn't it deny them or at least just dump them? Does anybody know about this "feature" in MT? Is there a fix? I would love to turn trackbacks on, I enjoy knowing who is out there reading and linking.

Dunno... over time, I've managed to eliminate most of the trackback problems on Wordpress. It has a database of "blackhole" comments that are deleted without me ever seeing them. I've filled it with hundreds of entries supplied by the spammers themselves.

While you can comment to anything on my blog, anything that has the word "poker" is queued for moderation. And if it includes the phrase "poker.html" it's blackholed. *poof*

Once again, a good arguement for switching to WordPress - but I don't wanna hassle with setting up my templates.

I have my sister on WordPress and haven't even managed to get her site prettied up yet.....

Bah! Stupid spammers
