What's Mine Is Not Mine...

...if someone else wants it.

Apparently we all need to get copies of the Constitution and send them to the Supremes, specifically Stevens, Kennedy, Ginsburg, Souter, and Breyer. They have demolished the concept of personal property rights with one vote.

O'Connor, joined in her dissent by Rehnquist, Scalia, and Thomas, said "Any property may now be taken for the benefit of another private party". How true - and how chilling.

The Connecticut neighborhood at issue in this case is being overtaken by eminent domain, not for public works such as roads or schools, but for a private development.

Susette Kelo and several other homeowners in a working-class neighborhood in New London, Conn., filed suit after city officials announced plans to raze their homes for a riverfront hotel, health club and offices.

The New London neighborhood that will be swept away includes Victorian-era houses and small businesses that in some instances have been owned by several generations of families. Among the New London residents in the case is a couple in their 80s who have lived in the same home for more than 50 years.

lame. I've always said that the constitution can't protect against interpretation. And the Supreme Court can interpret the constitution in any manner in which they can provide a sufficiently verbose B.S. story.

You can't interpret the constitution, because this is what you get.
