Not only was the assumption made that the author was speaking about abortion, but the rather straightforward 'pro-life' is required by "a strict Times policy" to be changed to 'anti-abortion' to avoid offending people who support abortion.
One doubts they have a similar policy to change 'pro-choice' to the more correct phrase 'pro-abortion' to avoid offending those who support a child's right to be born.
