Obama the Star

It was said after the first debate that it just didn’t seem like Obama wanted to be there. That would be fitting, as it reflects his presidency thus far.

In fact, I’ve been wondering why he is even running for reelection. Besides being completely unqualified for the job, he seems completely uninterested in it. For the Obamas, it seems the perks of being the First Family are all that matter. Fine.

So why bother to campaign for a second terms? There is no doubt he is already a big star; he will still get to hang with celebrities at ritzy parties, he will still get to travel to exotic locations, his net worth ballooned since he took office, he will still have his government pension & Secret Service protection. He will be the former President of the United States of America for the rest of his life, every door will be opened to him. Bill Clinton aside, Obama is still the first Black president. In fact, his is the first literally African-American president. Good for him.

In other words – every aspect of being president that interested him will still be available to him. However, he won’t have to deal with any of the icky stuff like Intelligence briefings, “reaching across the aisle”, meeting with world leaders, making decisions, showing up to the office…

It’s OK, Barack, lose with dignity and we’ll all pretend you tried your very bestest.

UPDATE: I had all but forgotten this one, “I learned you can’t change Washington from the inside” As Chris Christie points out, “then what the hell is he doing asking for another 4 years?”
