In The Closet

I need new clothes. This is not a secret, I have needed new clothes for a very long time. The bits & pieces I pick up grudgingly as the need arises are just not working, leaving me with a pseudo-uniform of baggy trousers & t-shirts. Blah. There shouldn’t be any trick to it, clothes are fairly standard – everyone wears them, right? But…

I hate shopping!

I hate shopping with the white hot fury of a thousand suns. Of all potential types of shopping, clothes shopping is at the very bottom.

My suddenly rich/won the lottery dreams do not involve fancy homes & flashy cars, they involve a house keeper and a personal shopper (neither of which I ever really have to deal with, because then I have to think about cleaning & shopping . Blargh.)

How wonderful to just know that every 6 months my closet would update with fresh stuff for me to wear, and never think about. I don’t want to pick styles, I don’t want to choose colors, I don’t want to try on any of that crap

The thing is, I don’t need (or want, for that matter) fancy, expensive outfits. The stuff sold at WalMart, Target, JC Penney…whatever, is just fine, but they don’t have personal shoppers at that price point.

So here is my business idea for those of you who actually enjoy the whole shopping experience: Personal shopper for the busy or cranky or fashion challenged middle class woman. Any store manager worth their salt, particularly in this economy, would offer you a discount for guaranteed sales (especially sales that don’t require their employees time & attention). I would gladly pay a bit over retail for not dealing with the whole ordeal. Anyone who has an eye and is sufficiently organized should be able to make a small but tidy profit on each client. One meeting to get my measurements, evaluate my closet, ascertain my style preference, set a budget – and you just deliver my stuff two or three times a year. I give ya’ a check.

Win/Win/Win
