Mullets & Kilts

I originally just shared this with my niece, as she is a connoisseur of great, vintage music videos. I have since decided that it is too fantastic not to share with the entire world.

Here they are in all their kilty-mulletted ’80s video glory;

And Your Little Dog, Too

An email forward that actually made me chuckle

Good news from Kansas,

The Wizard of OZ is over 70 years old.

Today, if Dorothy were to encounter people with
no brains, no hearts, and no courage - she wouldn't be in Oz

She'd be in Congress!

Quick, someone throw a bucket of water on Nancy Pelosi

Things I Love – 6

Dog Park

I love camera phones.

I love getting shots of newborn babies when they are brand spanking new, I love seeing silly things my friends are doing, I love being able to document things that defy description….

I love that they are handy to capture both the sublime & the ridiculous, like this shot from our trip to the dog park this morning.

The sublime is Tango coming when I called him.
The ridiculous is a woman choosing that outfit for the dog park.

Needless to say, she didn’t seem to be having much fun with her pooch.

(What isn’t conveyed here, however, is just how high & pointy those heels are. What this angle fails to capture is that the coat is split in the back to reveal a very short, very ruffly yellow mini skirt – it looked a bit like little girl bloomers.)

Stress Test

I got this in an email today and though I am not exactly sure how it works, it seems amazingly accurate.

The picture below has 2 identical dolphins in it. It was used in a case study on stress levels at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Look at both dolphins jumping out of the water. The dolphins are identical. A closely monitored, scientific study revealed that, in spite of the fact that the dolphins are identical; a person under stress would find differences in the two dolphins. The more differences a person finds between the dolphins, the more stress that person is experiencing.

Look at the photograph and if you find more than one or two differences you may want to take a vacation.

Replacement Windows

(Mom forwarded this to me today)

Last year I replaced all the windows in my house with that expensive double-pane energy efficient kind, and today, I got a call from the contractor who installed them. He was complaining that the work had been completed a whole year ago and I still hadn’t paid for them.
Helllooooo… just because I’m blonde doesn’t mean that I am automatically stupid.
So, I told him just what his fast talking sales guy had told me last year, that in ONE YEAR these windows would pay for themselves! Helllooooo? It’s been a year! I told him.
There was only silence at the other end of the line, so I finally just hung up.
He never called back. I bet he felt like an idiot.

Back to School

Found this in my archives, funny and timely since school starts up soon:

Yet another email forward, but it is funny:
The evolution in teaching math since the 1950s:
1. Teaching Math In 1950
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit?
2. Teaching Math In 1960
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit?
3. Teaching Math In 1970
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit?
4. Teaching Math In 1980
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20.
5. Teaching Math In 1990
A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20.
What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers.)
6. Teaching Math In 2005
Un hachero vende una carretada de maderapara $100. El costo de la producciones es $80.
