I need to amend my “Winning the lottery” instantly rich wish list. Besides the housekeeper and personal shopper, I want to hire Zoya from Pro Nails to be on call full-time.

She not only works magic with her Happy Feet pedicure at the nail salon, she also works at their sister spa as a massage therapist. One day I hope to indulge in that, also.

The woman is an artist, a master, a genius – and she works 6 days a week, morning till night. In my fantasy world, she works for me a couple of hours a week, earns the same money or more, and then has the rest of her week free to enjoy her family.

The woman is changing lives – she should be sufficiently rewarded

To Two, Too

One of my favorite material gifts is also one of my favorites on a more ethereal level. Years ago, when I was first “setting up house”, my late sister gave me a packet of hand-written recipes. There aren’t a lot of things that I cook, but many of my favorites came from that handful of cards.

The card I turn to most often is for Grandma Johnson’s Banana Bread. It is a sure fire hit, just ask D. Though I like to tweak the measurements sometimes, a little less sugar, crunchy peanut butter rather than butter, I always pull out that card for the basics.

And I always laugh.

Because my sister wrote “…prepare to loaf pans…”. My sister was a writer. She was smart. She knew which to/too/two to use. She was also a perfectionist who would be mortified to know that in her haste to write out those recipes, she committed that error to perpetuity.

And yet, her error contributes to one of my sweetest memories of her.

Why Valentine’s Day?

Tonight I came home from work to find a delicious adult beverage waiting for me.

While I was relaxing and catching up on last night’s Red Eye, D was getting dinner ready. Grilled chicken with an herb marinade & cheese topping, baked potatoes and fresh asparagus on the grill. Of note, D doesn’t even like asparagus and got it simply because he knows how much I do. (He made spinach for himself)

After that fabulous meal, I find the best surprise – a plate of chocolate-covered strawberries.

What was the occasion for this sweet, romantic treatment? It was Thursday.

With a man that thoughtful and attentive every day,
no Hallmark Holiday is needed.

Happy Christmas to all

I’m not familiar with Dave Barnes (I don’t think) but I definitely know that female voice – Hillary Scott from Lady Antebellum. The lyrics seem like a slightly less ‘creepy’ version of “Baby It’s Cold Outside”, and the laid back feel is nice for an Arizona Christmas. Enjoy
