During our Blogapalooza, there was a mention of the light rail – and the public art installations connected to it. To which a few people said, “There’s art at the stations?”
Yes, and it all cost a pretty penny, too. Here is the lovely sculpture to be found at the 19th Ave & Camelback stop.
Remember that the next time you are complaining about the budget cuts for essential services like police, fire, education. . .

Were you here when they paid a Mass. company $500,000 to put art representing Arizona themes on the Squaw Peak Parkway? They put up a few abstract pot-like things on top of the sound walls.
People were not happy.
Some wag plated a toilet in gold foil and put it up on the wall.
It was, by far, the best and most appropriate art of the whole thing.
Naturally, the city took it down quickly.
I remember the pots very well. The toilet was the perfect representation of where our tax dollars were going
