Women's Rights Around The World

A Muslim Uyghur woman who is more than six months pregnant remains under guard in a hospital in China’s northwestern Xinjiang region awaiting a forced abortion by population control authorities who don’t want her to have a third child.

Arzigul Tursun fled from her village and went into hiding to avoid the abortion but was subsequently found and taken to the Municipal Watergate Hospital in Yining.

Once again I ask, why is Sarah Palin's uterus a threat to women's rights? Where is the outrage to protect this woman who would like to make a CHOICE about her pregnancy?!?

You know what, I saw this documentary on this subject of the population laws in China on HBO or Showtime or one of those channels a few months back. It was VERY interesting and yet sad. It covered not only the laws, how people try to lie and escape it by going into hiding (like this woman you mention), finding fake documents and so on.

What was also very disturbing is how kidnapping and selling babies and even teen girls has gone way up because of it. They are kidnapping baby boys or little boys because of course everyone wants a son to take care of the family (Chinese culture). They are also kidnapping teen girls because there is now a shortage of on the rise of women to marry all these sons. It's sad. I can't think of the name of this documentary now.

I do agree with your point. It's crazy to me that so many people here are all about being pro-choice, which is fine but how come they are not up in arms about "forced" abortions in China?? Talk about NO female reproductive rights.
