Michael gets to the point of the Kerry Vietnam kerfuffle - do you care about a candidate's honesty?
Once again, the party of Bill "they didn't ask the question the right way" Clinton is telling us that their candidate's 'embellishments' don't matter. After spending months trying to paint W as a liar on the WMD issue, and giving that as a reason to vote for anyone else, they really haven't a leg to stand on in claiming that Kerry's lies don't matter.
Like Michael, I don't believe W lied - there was much evidence and many believers (including many Democrats and Foreign leaders). I believe the WMDs existed and still do, whether in Syria or in Iraq or elsewhere - Saddam had them and would have built bigger and scarier stores of them. However, even if it were to turn out that they did not exist, that would not make W's statements into lies - merely mistaken intelligence.
Kerry has flat out fabricated (as did slick Willy) and no one on the left side seems to mind.
Does the truth matter - or does it not?

Which means, by the way, that the Bush National Guard controversy is not interesting. We've had almost 4 years of Bush in which to examine his honesty.
There is one more part of the Kerry Vietnam kerfuffle that only affects some of us: honor and closure. Those of us who are Vietnam Veterans were all smeared by Kerry, and the lies persist to this day.
If Kerry becomes President, his lies are immortalized and we are all war criminals, baby killers, whatever.
That is what drives the Swifties and it drives me.
Kerry is dishonorable and he spread it onto all of us - while he was still a sworn Navy Officer (1966-1978), spreading the North Vietnamese propaganda.
John Kerry is not a normal presidential candidate. He is a traitor, a man who committed treason for his own self-aggrandizement. He met with the communists in 1970 and spread their propaganda line as the speaker for VVAW (which had other contacts with the enemy).
Since the enemy, after their Tet 68 disaster decided they could only win by demoralizing us, Kerry was doing their job for them.
It worked.
