The Message You Send the World

I was driving down 35th Avenue yesterday and saw a truck with a bumper sticker on it that said: "My other ride is your boyfriend"

What is going through this person head when they buy that? And actually sticking it on their car? I can see her starting her shopping trip with the thought, "I'm a skank and I want the whole world to know, maybe I can find a bumper sticker that will show that"

No kidding. I also hate those stickers that say "My kid beat up your honor roll student." Nice.

I also don't like those Darwin Fish with the legs. Granted, it's a clever concept but you're taking a symbol of Christianity and altering it to mean the exact opposite of what some people hold dear.

That's like telling someone they're religion is bullpoop.

IF that were a Star of David or a Buddha or a whatever else besides Christian symbol you'd hear a lot more uproar.

I agree. I had a friend who said he wanted to get little feet to take out and attach to the fish on peoples cars. I thought that especially heinous - you are dealing with a symbol that people hold dear and sacred, and you are treating it like a joke. I think it says a lot about the place of religion in our society in the 90's.

I hope people are becoming more aware. Even if you are not particularly religious, how can it be a bad thing if other people (genuinely) are?
